Gaia – In Principio

When Armin van Buuren announced that he would perform at Ultra Music Festival as Gaia in 2014 he took the trance world by storm. His euphoric but hard-hitting set, together with Rank 1‘s Benno de Goeij, captivated A State of Trance audiences and left fans wanting more. Fast forward from ASOT650 to ASOT700 and Gaia is finally back with new music, previewing their new track In Principio.

‘In Principio’ begins with a haunting church bell chime and slowly building drums. In quick succession the tempo builds to a blistering pace and the electric beat kicks in and it runs into a dark trance melody. After the beat gives way, the melody takes center stage creating a euphoric soundscape like you can only find in trance music. When the beat meets the melody at the drop, it’s pure Gaia magic at work, and the track also bears some resemblance to Rank 1’s timeless “Airwave”. With Armin’s A State of Trance festival tour kicking off today in Australia, it’s only a matter of time before you will be able to see this amazing track played out live.
